GWP-Med, as represented by its Host Institute MIO-ECSDE is conducting an open call for offers for Technical Assistance needed for the implementation of a Demonstration Activity related to Testing innovative technologies and partnerships for food security in Lebanon in the framework of the “GEF/UNEP Mediterranean Sea Programme (MedProgramme): Enhancing Environmental Security” and particularly its Child Project 2.2. (CP 2.2) with title “Mediterranean Coastal Zones: Managing the Water-Energy-Food and Ecosystems Nexus”

The GWP-WA Steering Committee members had virtual exchanges from 25 to 29 May 2020.

The GWP Annual Report for 2017 – “GWP in Action 2017” – is available online. The report presents highlights from the entire GWP network. "The stories point in one direction: GWP is the multi-stakeholder partnership that delivers on SDG 6 implementation through an integrated approach to water resources management," says GWP Chair Oyun Sanjaasuren in her message in the report.

Gender equality is a key element to contribute effectively to the sustainable development goals especially for a better water management considering the climate change challenges that affects, especially the Mediterranean region.

"We're interested in the Water ChangeMaker Awards because we understand that climate resilience is an active leadership.  It is something that requires bold thinking and bold actions, and we need the Water ChangeMaker Awards as a signal for aspirations, for hopes, for what positive change can really look like," says John Matthews, Executive Director of AGWA.

GWP was founded in 1996 to foster integrated water resources management (IWRM), defined as a process which promotes the coordinated development and management of water, land and related resources in order to maximise economic and social welfare in an equitable manner without compromising the sustainability of vital ecosystems.

GWP held its annual Regional Days meeting on 1-4 June. The virtual event set a record in numbers, with over 120 GWP participants worldwide. While the main purpose is to have a shared understanding of GWP priorities and approaches, one of the highlights this year was the ‘virtual signing’ of a grant agreement between GWP and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) on readiness support to the Zambia National Adaptation Plan (NAP).
