The participants made a field trip which took them to the Tanguiéta town hall for exchanges with the mayor, Mr. BOUKARY Zakari, the different beneficiary communities of the TFTC 2 and WACDEP-G projects, the handing over of materials and equipment and a visit to some of the youth and women's action sites in the framework of the project.
GWP will host, with partners, the Pan-Africa Capacity Building Workshop on International Water Law and Water Governance: for improved practices in transboundary water investments in Africa, in Entebbe, Uganda 19-23 September 2022.
GWP Pakistan in collaboration with Tayaba Welfare International Association (TWIA), donated 390 “Help to Others (H2O) Wheels” worth of Pakistan Rupees 2.8 million (around Euro 11,700) to the communities who suffer from a lack of safe water in Punjab and Sindh Provinces in Pakistan - belongs to Cholistan and Tharparkar Deserts.
The Global Water Leadership Program-Rwanda launched a response strategy aims at strengthening water resilience in Rwanda in the event held on 22 March 2024 at Radisson Blu Kigali. This event, coincided with the celebration of the 2024 World Water Day themed “Leveraging Water for Peace and Prosperity” brought together representatives from various government institutions, international organizations, regional and national institutions.
This process, initiated by the Cameroon government in 2023, has been supported by several technical and financial partners, including the World Bank, the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) and GWP Central Africa (GWP-CAf). After nine sessions of the working group set up for this purpose by the Ministry of Water and Energy (MINEE), the latter organized 2 working sessions with all stakeholders in the water sector from March 25 to 27, 2024 and from May 28 to 31, 2024 in Mbankomo, Yaounde.
Fifteen African Union (AU) Member States that gathered in Nairobi, Kenya, for the kick-off workshop of the AU-AIP Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Support Initiative have hailed the multi-country initiative saying it gives them a continental-wide platform to learn from each other in efforts to accelerate water and climate resilience investments through the Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP).
In 2017 and 2020, the SDG 6.5.1 Survey Reporting was conducted, and a post-Survey Assessment of the results was carried out in 2021. One of the challenges in IWRM implementation identified through the assessment was the lack of IWRM understanding among various government stakeholders, as well as the private sector.
The Alter Aqua project in Malta, implemented by GWP-Med in collaboration with Malta's Energy & Water Agency and funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation recently inaugurated its latest phase of works: 3 new traditional reservoirs restored, and a new digital 'Reservoir Trail' created, taking visitors on a self-guided tour across Malta's historical cisterns.
