The governments of Mozambique and Zimbabwe have established a tri-basin institution to manage the Buzi, Pungwe, and Save River Basins’ water resources, which have, over the years, suffered from extreme climate effects such as floods, droughts, and cyclones.
Lilongwe, Malawi, March 14, 2024 – Leaders from seven African, Middle Eastern and Asian countries including high-level delegates from UNICEF, the British High Commission in Malawi and the Global Water Partnership are meeting in Lilongwe, Malawi, to assess efforts made in the seven countries towards building more climate-resilient water services under the multi-partner Global Water Leadership (GWL) Programme.
The Global Water Leadership Programme (GWL) in Tanzania has brought together a range of the country’s sectors to forge a united front against water insecurity through regular dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders.
The goal of the AIP WACDEP-G programme is to ensure that the preparation, development, design, governance, and management of ongoing and new climate resilient water infrastructure investments, institutions, and job creation interventions strategically advance gender equality.
Gender equality and sustainable development are inseparable. Addressing gender inequalities —including access to and control over natural resources— accelerates the impact of policies connected to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
During the 18th World Water Resources Congress in Beijing, CCTV's "Focus Interview" produced a themed interview on values and contributions of reclaimed water, JIANG Yunzhong, regional secretary general of GWP China, explained audiences how reused water can help cities "quench thirst".
The session coordinated by GWP-WA was held on Thursday 23 May 2024 at the Senegal Pavilion during the World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia. Facilitated by the GWP-WA Chair, Mr Abdoulaye SENE, it featured the distinguished visits of the Senegalese Minister for Water and Sanitation, Dr Cheick Tidiane DIEYE, and the Executive Secretary/CEO of GWPO, Mr Alan ATKISSOON.
