Water and energy are inseparable. To draw attention to the links between water and energy, GWP has released a new video about the theme of World Water Day 2014.

The  Minister of Water and Sanitation, the Hon Nomvula Mokonyane,  has confirmed her wholehearted and enthusiastic support for the conference by endorsing the dates  3 – 7  November 2014,  and we urge all delegates and prospective delegates in turn to confirm their attendance and participation at the conference to the Secretariat.

In 2002, at the Johannesburg World Summit on Sustainable Development, the Caribbean States committed to work towards developing integrated water resources management (IWRM) plans and water use efficiency (WUE) plans by 2005. Now, more than 10 years later, this paper looks into the measures taken and the progress that has been made towards adopting an integrated approach to water management. Technical Focus Papers are publications of the GWP Technical Committee that harness and share knowledge generated by GWP Partnerships.

This paper focuses on IWRM experiences in Central Asia where the major rivers flow from the headwaters in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan to the downstream Fergana Valley in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Water demand in the region is dominated by energy requirements and irrigation. This paper draws lessons from introducing IWRM at many different levels of management – from interstate, to national and district level. Technical Focus Papers are publications of the GWP Technical Committee that harness and share knowledge generated by GWP Partnerships.

The Tanzania Consultative Meeting on Water in the Post-2015 Agenda convened from 26 – 27 March 2013 at Ubungo Plaza in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It was co-led by the Tanzania Country Water Partnership.

The Global Water Partnership Mediterranean is seeking to hire an Individual Consultant in the framework of the project Water, Climate and Development Programme «WACDEP» in synergy with ‘Making Water Cooperation Happen in the Mediterranean’ Project, in relation to the “Gender Mainstreaming Strategy“ in the NWSAS basin and “Training on gender mainstreaming in development planning”.

Preliminary planned Project Manager’s trip to the pilot sites at the end of 2013 could not be implemented due to various organizational, financial and visa problems. Starting from the first quarter of 2014 the familiarization with the ongoing work on the program pilot sites began in coordination with the national project teams.

GWP Central Africa (GWP-CAf) carried out a working visit to the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) from 29 August to 01 September 2017 in Libreville, Gabon. The main objective of this visit was to strengthen collaboration between the two structures, which signed a Memorandum of Understanding in April 2017.
