Most Mediterranean countries have embarked upon or are well underway water sector reform processes through the elaboration and/or update/revision of IWRM Plans and Water Strategies, with governance firmly placed at the centrepiece and IWRM forming the guiding framework.

Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia is one of the region in the international network which created to foster an integrated approach to water resources management (IWRM). The Global Water Partnership's vision is for a water secure world. Its mission is to advance governance and management of water resources for sustainable and equitable development. The Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia was born in the year 2004. The Southeast Asia region was one of the earliest regions to take-off with a Global Water Partnership Regional Meeting on Water Resources Management for Southeast Asia held in Manila in June 1997

Up to 300 participants from more than 30 countries were gathered for the Gender, Water and Development Conference, 7-11 November in East London, South Africa. The conference is organised as a step towards an on-going journey to change equality, equity and development in the water sector.

In 2010 the El Salvador Ministry of Environment started to prepare a climate change policy. GWP El Salvador and the National Foundation for Development (FUNDE), with financial support from Lutheran World Relief (LWR), arranged national consultations to encourage an exchange of ideas between the government and other stakeholders on a national climate change policy.

The Zambian Government mainstreamed adaptation to climate change in the water chapter of the 6th National Development Plan. This is the result of close collaboration between the Ministry of Energy and Water Development, the Water Sector Advisory Group (WSAG) under the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, and other stakeholders fostered by GWP Zambia.

GWP China-Fujian, with support from the Fujian Provincial Water Resources Department, carried out a survey on water resources, including rural drinking water safety. The purpose of the investigation was to ensure an integrated and sustainable approach to water resources management for the planned construction of an economic zone.

HRH the Prince of Orange of the Netherlands, and a Patron of the Global Water Partnership (GWP), will deliver the GWP Annual Lecture on Friday, August 19, 2011.

The GWP-CAf Strategy towards 2019 is to support a sustainable development by promoting IWRM and its implementation in order to ensure water security in Central Africa. Download the strategy
