The iNNO SED Summer School 2026, titled “Innovating River Futures: From Sediment Science to Field Action”, invites students and young professionals to deepen their knowledge and gain hands-on experience in sediment management and river systems.
The "SDG6.5.1 Evaluation and Application Research at County Level" Programme is jointly hosted by the Global Water Partnership China (GWP China), the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) China Country Office, and Coca-Cola China. Officially launched in January 2025, the Programme is implemented over a one-year period with the support of local authorities in Sichuan and Hunan provinces.
A comprehensive analysis of the Çorrush Reservoir and its surrounding systems undertaken under the GEF UNEP/MAP MedProgramme by GWP-Med delivers a clear, bankable package of interventions for decision-makers, project developers, and financiers, organized across five priority areas: reservoir and dam optimization, irrigation and drainage rehabilitation, climate-smart agriculture and water efficiency, renewable energy integration, and sustainable tourism development.
From 25 to 28 November 2025, a national training workshop was held in Grand-Popo (Benin) for community relays and eco-guards on techniques for information, awareness, and mobilization of local communities in the Mono Biosphere Reserve.
The 2nd Stakeholder Consultation for an Integrated Management Plan (IMP) of the Damour area in Lebanon brought together key stakeholders from 27–29 October in Beirut, followed by a MedProgramme outreach workshop on 30 October. Led by GWP-Med, the IMP promotes holistic, source-to-sea water management, linking land, river, delta, coast, and marine ecosystems to support sustainable development and effective implementation of national policies.
The UNDP-GEF Project “Supporting Sustainable Inclusive Blue Economy Transformation in African Small Island Developing States (African SIDS), through the African Union Commission and GWPSA, participated in an IW: Learn Twinning Exchange organised as part of the Global Environment Facility International Waters (GEF IW): LEARN 5 initiatives to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing between International Waters projects across regions. The exchange activities took place in Colombia and Belize from 27 October to 4 November 2025.
Online, Southeast Asia | November 4, 2025 - The Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia (GWP-SEA) convened water leaders, practitioners, and partners from across the region for a virtual regional learning exchange on Policy to Practice: Regional Actions on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) also marked a milestone moment: the Regional Launch of the GWP Global Transformation Agenda 2026–2030, signalling stronger commitment to water governance, climate resilience, and long-term investment in the region.
The 11th SADC Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogue was held in Maseru, Lesotho, from 29 to 30 September 2025, where delegates discussed the role of water in regional economic corridor development, positioning and aligning the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus for impactful contribution to the regional economic development corridor agenda.
