Against the backdrop of South Africa’s G20 Presidency, the first hosted by an African nation, 2,000 delegates will convene in Cape Town from 13-15 August 2025 for the inaugural AU-AIP Water Investment Summit, a strategic platform to drive water-related investments and reforms. Over 80 transformative water projects from across the continent will be showcased to potential funders & investors, through which possible deals will be signed.
On 13 and 14 November 2024, the National Water Partnership of Côte d'Ivoire (PNECI) organised, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Water and Forests, a workshop bringing together a wide range of key partners in Côte d'Ivoire's water sector.
On September 26th, the inaugural meeting and academic exchange conference of the GWP China Groundwater Working Committee was held in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province.

The West Africa Regional Water Partnership (GWP-WA) held its 12th Ordinary Assembly of Partners (AP) under the theme: “Supporting Water Valorization to Transform West Africa.”
This strategic meeting, organized via videoconference, brought together 35 partners from public institutions, regional organizations, NGOs, the private sector, and technical and financial partners.
Koula, Mali – December 2025
As part of the project “Real-time Flood Risk Mapping” financed by the Adaptation Fund through the AFCIA program, two automatic multi-parameter stations were successfully installed in the rural commune of Koula from December 18 to 22, 2025.
African leaders, water experts, development partners, and regional institutions have reaffirmed the urgent need to strengthen cooperation and investment in Africa’s shared water resources during the Continental Level Consultation and Exchange Event on Transboundary Water Cooperation, held from 17 to 18 February 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Global Water Partnership (GWP), represented by Mr. Alex Simalabwi, CEO of the Global Water Partnership Organisation (GWPO) and Executive Secretary of the Global Water Partnership (GWP), played a leading role at the AWSISA Africa & Global South Water & Sanitation Dialogue, held from 9–12 November 2025 at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg.
