Eswatini Government mobilizes private sector to be part of climate action

The Government of Eswatini says the private sector needs to get involved in climate action to protect their own as well as the nation’s investments from the impacts of climate change. Government data shows that 80 percent of surveyed private sector enterprises reported that their businesses had been impacted by climate-related events, most of which had involved extreme and erratic rainfall and drought.

New Paper Initiates Cross-Sector Dialogue on Water Storage

GWP and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) launched a new Perspectives Paper, “Storing Water: A new integrated approach for resilient development." The launch took place in a webinar on 24 February, gathering about 300 people for what is to be the start of a broad cross-sector dialogue on water storage.

SDG 6.5.1 Global Reports

SDG 6.5.1 monitoring and reporting provides a wealth of data and a comprehensive global picture on the progress of IWRM implementation in countries. The UN Environment Programme (UNEP), as the custodian agency for SDG indicator 6.5.1, periodically invites countries to undertake data collection to respond to a survey on the status of IWRM, analyses the data submitted by countries and shares the results in global progress reports to boost implementation of IWRM.

WACDEP-G Benin demonstration project operational planning meeting

CWP-Benin, in collaboration with GWP-WA and WACDEP-G implementing partners in Benin, intends to stimulate innovation for gender equality by supporting the accelerated design and implementation of projects and initiatives that enhance water security and climate resilience through a gender transformative approach. Such an approach would improve access to and control over resources and assets for all within local communities.

Time to Do It the GWP W.A.Y.

We are happy to introduce the GWP Water Academy for Youth (W.A.Y.). The GWP W.A.Y. is an opportunity for young professionals to realise their potential in the water community, become influencers and leaders, create momentum with key actors, and enhance youth engagement and empowerment in water resources management. The first global activity is a joint GWP, CAP-NET, University of Andres/UNESCO online course, “From Learning to Leading: Beyond the ABCs of Youth, Water, and the SDGs.” Registration opens on 17 August and the course is free.
