Aiming to highlight the male perspective on gender, we asked seven of our male partners from the Mediterranean the following question: "Why is it essential to empower women in water cooperation settings?"
Global leaders recently convened for the twelfth Petersberg Climate Dialogue (PCD XII) with the aim of furthering multilateral cooperation around climate action in the lead up to COP26 in Glasgow. This year’s PCD included a series of virtual satellite events to complement the ministerial discussions.
CWP-Benin, in collaboration with GWP-WA and WACDEP-G implementing partners in Benin, intends to stimulate innovation for gender equality by supporting the accelerated design and implementation of projects and initiatives that enhance water security and climate resilience through a gender transformative approach. GWP-WA together the VBA and WMO started an online training targeting experts in the six Volta Basin countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali and Togo). The distance learning course ''Dissemination, Decision Support and Response to Flood and Drought Early Warning'' takes place over a period of 6 weeks from March 13 to April 21, 2023. The online course is structured around 4 modules.
The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on transboundary freshwater security opened in August 2020. A year on, the MOOC has attracted over 2,300 participants from 150 countries, and the course is confirmed for another year on the same platform – with more language versions in the making to reach an even greater audience, and with more interactive events to engage participants. Chinese video subtitles are already available, and several other translations are under preparation.
