On 12 December, the United Nations, United Kingdom, and France, in partnership with Chile and Italy, will co-host a virtual Climate Ambition Summit 2020 to mark the fifth anniversary of the adoption of the Paris Agreement.

GWP-WA’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Armand Houanye attended the Kick-off Meeting of the ‘’EPIC Africa Project - Energy Planning and Modelling through Integrated Assessment of Climate-Land-Energy-Water Nexus in Sub-Saharan Africa: The Cases of the Volta and Tana River Basins’’ on 22nd and 23rd November 2022. The Kick-off meeting was held in Accra, Ghana from 21 to 25 November 2022.

The report on the progress on IWRM in the Asia-Pacific region is based on the national consultations held last year to assess the implementation of SDG 6.5.1. Based on the analysis of country responses to the 2020 Data Drive on that indicator, as well as interviews with focal points and an online Learning Exchange, we are pleased to present the "Progress on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the Asia-Pacific Region 2021: Learning exchange on monitoring and implementation towards SDG 6.5.1" .  The report was launched online to coincide with the Stockholm Water Week 2021, during the Asia Focus session: Accelerating inclusive water governance to advance sustainable development, on 25 August 2021. In 2020, GWP South America organised a contest among regional Partners. The topic was on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and featured projects successfully carried out in 2020. The top 5 submissions were shared in a series of webinars during April to June this year – presenting results, conclusions, and concerns.

Every year on February 2nd, World Wetlands Day is commemorated to promote awareness of wetlands. The celebration of World Wetlands Day in 2022 is especially significant, as the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 75/317 on August 30, 2021, establishing February 2 as World Wetlands Day.

In the framework of the UN Decade of Ocean Science, a satellite event will be co-organized by partners of the Action Platform for Source to Sea Management (S2S platform) that include Global Water Partnership, UNESCO-IHP, Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands, Stockholm International Water Institute. The Starting at the Source to Save the Ocean session will be held on 18 November 2021, at 14:00 (CET) and will explore ways in which freshwater and marine communities can strengthen their collaboration, advancing ocean health.
