The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) together with the African Union Commission (AUC), Global Water Management (GWP) and Africa Water Investment Program Secretariat (AIP Sec) organised a training on Climate Resilient Water Projects, Investment and Integrated Water Resources Management in Dakar, Senegal on 7 and 8 July 2025.

On 26 June 2026, Mali established the first National Coordination of Users of Natural Resources in the Volta Basin. National conferences are to be held in each of the six countries of the Volta Basin with a view to establishing a representative, structured and recognised National Coordination of Natural Resource Users through the validation of co-opted organisations, the adoption of constitutive texts, the work plan and capacity building, and the initiation of official recognition procedures with the administrative authorities.
An institutional workshop to share experiences and simulate flood management on 21 August 2024 in Hèrèdougou was held on 24 and 25 June in Ziniaré in the Central Plateau Region to define actions to strengthen the technical capacities of national institutions in flood forecasting and management.
Thalath, Vientiane Province Lao PDR | June 13, 2025 - The Lao People’s Democratic Republic took a decisive step forward in tackling water and climate challenges. A national stakeholder meeting brought together senior government officials, technical experts, and development partners to officially launch two vital strategic documents: The Preliminary Integrated Water Resources Management Action Plan 2026-2030 for (the) Lao PDR and Drought Management Framework in Laos.
A significant number of reservoirs and lakes in the Danube River Basin area have relevance in flood peak reduction. The countries in the river basin maintain contact and exchange of information only within bilateral cooperation. Therefore, first, there is a need for carrying out a comprehensive survey of the flood control practices and operational management of the reservoirs, and second to create a common platform for information exchange.

The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) participated in the Partnership Initiative for Sustainable Land Management’s (PISLM) 4th High Level Ministerial Meeting, held on June 18, 2025, at the Radisson Resorts Grenada. During the event, GWP-C reaffirmed its commitment to supporting regional efforts in sustainable water and land governance, particularly through its role in the implementation of the Caribbean Drought Initiative—one of the key undertakings of the regional Inter-Governmental Organisation, which recently signed a Headquarter Agreement with the Government of Grenada.
