“We Need to Work Together to Implement the Strategy”

With the start of a new year, a new decade, and with a new GWP Strategy, GWP Central America Executive Secretary Fabiola Tábora says that it is important to have all GWP Partners and allies working together. In a video interview she talks about the 3 thematic areas of the Strategy and highlights some of the things that GWP Central America will be working on in each of these areas.

Interactive Online Session: River Basin Organisations and the Implementation of Treaty Commitments

GWP and Wuhan International Water Law Academy are co-organising an interactive online series called the "Transboundary freshwater security governance train". The sessions are conducted in an approach of a ‘train’ stopping at various locations in the world. At each of the stops, a different topic from the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security is explored. On 16 March, the 3rd session looks at river basin organisations and the implementation of legal commitments.

GWP-CAf in Action 2020

Despite the many challenges encountered in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Global Water Partnership, Central Africa (GWP-CAf) made great strides in advancing it's mission of promoting Intergrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) accross Central Africa while reiterating the urgency for water security especially in a COVID context.

Integration Is Key to Building a Water Secure Future

"The Green Deal for a Sustainable Future" was the theme of the 2021 digital edition of the European Development Days (EDD21) on 15-16 June, a European Commission event. GWP was represented at a high-level panel on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and at a discussion on the role of water as a connector in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Both discussions highlighted integration between sectors as key to improving water governance.

New Report: Progress on IWRM in the Asia-Pacific Region 2021

The report on the progress on IWRM in the Asia-Pacific region is based on the national consultations held last year to assess the implementation of SDG 6.5.1. Based on the analysis of country responses to the 2020 Data Drive on that indicator, as well as interviews with focal points and an online Learning Exchange, we are pleased to present the "Progress on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the Asia-Pacific Region 2021: Learning exchange on monitoring and implementation towards SDG 6.5.1" .  The report was launched online to coincide with the Stockholm Water Week 2021, during the Asia Focus session: Accelerating inclusive water governance to advance sustainable development, on 25 August 2021. SDG 6.5.1 Regional progress reports

SDG 6.5.1 reporting provides a wealth of data and a comprehensive picture on the progress of IWRM implementation in countries. In addition to the global progress report, some regions have taken the opportunity to analyse their progress and results from a regional perspective.
