African leaders, water experts, development partners, and regional institutions have reaffirmed the urgent need to strengthen cooperation and investment in Africa’s shared water resources during the Continental Level Consultation and Exchange Event on Transboundary Water Cooperation, held from 17 to 18 February 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Organised by SIWI, World Water Week 2024 aims to highlight water cooperation, for peace and security in its broadest sense. GWP and its network will co-convene, support and take part in various activities, both within the formal agenda of the Week but also side-events and other conversations outside the venue.

The SvD article presents a misleading view of GWP’s operations by focusing solely on one category of partners, misrepresenting key facts, and failing to provide accurate information to its readers about how our organisation works and how it makes effective use of development aid funding.

On 21 November 2025, the GWP Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Regional Council gathered online and introduced the GWP’s new global strategy.
