The ACCISI-GEM project marked an impressive success for natural resources conservation and sustainable farming in water-stressed Northern Tunisia, helping farmers increase agricultural production by 27%, while reducing irrigation water use by 3%.
In the arid landscapes of Djibouti, women have long carried the weight of their households; walking long distances to fetch water, managing domestic responsibilities, and sustaining livelihoods with limited resources. These burdens stretch women’s time, affect their wellbeing, restrict their opportunities for economic development, while exposing them to heightened risks of gender-based violence (GBV), especially during long, unsafe journeys in search of water or income.
The “Drina Nexus Roadmap”, was praised for its potential to guide transboundary cooperation towards sustainable development in the Drina basin, by high-level panelists at the Sarajevo Energy and Climate Week. The Roadmap was developed in 2022 by Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean together with the UNECE, in the frame of the SEE Nexus project funded by the Austrian Development Agency.
PRESASS 2024 was organized, from 22 to 26 April 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria, by the AGRHYMET Regional Climate Center for West Africa and the Sahel (AGRHYMET RCC-WAS) of CILSS, in collaboration with ACMAD, the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (SNMHs), the WMO and West African River Basin Organizations.

The High-Level Meeting on Accelerating Investments in the Water Sector in Mali concluded successfully, marking a significant step forward in mobilizing resources and partners to strengthen the country’s climate resilience and water security.
December 11-16, 2023, with support from the GWP SEA and GWP China, the GWP Cambodia and Partners and Stakeholders were provided opportunities to explore the IWRM implementation in Yunnan Province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China.
The Asia Pacific Water Scarcity Programme (WSP) has been implementing core activities in Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam over the past year. FAO is bringing together all technical stakeholders involved in the WSP for a Regional Technical Workshop on Water Scarcity to take stock of progress, review the WSP approach, and gain stakeholder insights on the best ‘way forward.’
Representatives from Lebanese ministries joined a field visit to Nexus related projects in the Shouf region in Lebanon, aiming to address trade-offs across different sectors and generate socioeconomic and environmental advantages, organised by GWP-Med within the framework of the GEF UNEP/MAP MedProgramme.
