The 24th IAHR-APD Congress will be kicked off on October 14-17, 2024 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. It is hosted by International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research Asia and Pacific Division (IAHR-APD), organized by Changjiang River Scientific Research Insititute (CRSRI) and Sichuan University (SCU), and jointly supported by GWP China Yangtze River Basin Water Partnership.
17 June is the UN World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, also called Desertification and Drought Day (DDD). The African SIDS Blue Economy Project, a joint initiative supported by the Global Environment Facility, implemented by UNDP, and executed by the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa, under the leadership of the African Union Commission as the focal custodian of the project, was showcased at the Africa Blue Economy Week taking place at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Africa Blue Economy Week took place from 23 to 25 September 2025.
The governments of Angola and Namibia have officially endorsed and kickstarted the implementation of a joint transboundary water project titled "Enhanced Water Security and Community Resilience in the Adjacent Cuvelai and Kunene Transboundary River Basins." This initiative aims to address the pressing challenges of water scarcity, floods, and droughts in the Cuvelai and Kunene River Basins.
