As part of the implementation of the activities of the project "Integrating Flood and Drought Management and Early Warning for Climate Change Adaptation in the Volta Basin (VFDM)", the VBA in collaboration with WMO, GWP-WA and IUCN organised and held six (6) national technical workshops on nature-based solutions for the development of bankable projects to mobilise funding for implementation in the national portions and at the scale of the entire Volta basin.
Africa is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change due to a number of interlinked challenges, including land degradation, poverty, and extreme weather events. For seven years, the Kazakh-German University (KGU) has been annually holding an Olympiad in the field of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) among students from Central Asian countries. Since last year, the University has expanded the subject matter of the Olympiad and conducts it within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) developed by the UN.
