At Global Water Partnership (GWP), we wish to address, clarify and correct the information presented in Svenska Dagbladet's (SvD) recent article regarding our partner database, published on 18 October. The SvD article presents a misleading view of GWP’s operations by focusing solely on one category of partners, misrepresenting key facts, and failing to provide accurate information to its readers about how our organisation works and how it makes effective use of development aid funding.
Koudougou, August 7, 2025 — As part of the REWarD Volta River Basin project, Burkina Faso has taken a decisive step forward by establishing its National Coordination Committee for Users of Natural Resources in the Volta Basin. This initiative is part of the regional objective to structure, represent, and recognize users in each of the basin countries in order to strengthen their role in natural resource governance.
The States and regional organisations of West Africa and the Sahel region met virtually on 5 December 2024 to discuss the sustainable management of water resources in West Africa, with a particular focus on the regional initiative for the development, resilience and valorisation of water for West Africa (DREVE) and its various pillars. Participants discussed the challenges and opportunities related to climate risk management, project financing, capacity building and the preservation of the Fouta Djallon Mountains.
The Steering Committee of the Regional Water Partnership for West Africa met virtually on 02 October 2024 to have them examine and validate the implementation of the decisions and resolutions of the Partners' Assembly of 02 December 2023
The session coordinated by GWP-WA was held on Thursday 23 May 2024 at the Senegal Pavilion during the World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia. The report highlights the alarming challenges facing these vital ecosystems, which supply freshwater to billions of people worldwide.
GWP-WA held this Saturday, December 2, 2023 the 11th Partners Assembly under the theme: ''Accelerating the achievement of SDG6 in a context of security crisis in West Africa: Challenges, Innovative Strategies and Contributions of Partnerships''. The event took place in #Ouagadougou, #Burkina Faso under the patronage of the Minister of Environment, Water and Sanitation of Burkina Faso represented by the Director General of Water Resources.
