15% increase for Gabon and 10% increase for Sao Tome and Principe - these are the final SDG 6.5.1 scores noted for the two countries following a national stakeholder consultation.
On 25 March 2021, GWP-Med organised a training on the newly developed Drin Information Management System. It was attended by 17 representatives from related ministries, institutions, local governments, NGOs and international organizations active within the Drin basin.
The Global Water Partnership Mediterranean GEF/UNDP/GWP-Med project 'Enabling transboundary cooperation and integrated water resources management in the extended Drin River Basin' (GEF Drin Project) is making efforts to raise public awareness about the natural wealth and cultural heritage of the Drin River Basin through the celebration of Drin Day 2020.
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) is supporting the Government of Grenada through the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands and Forestry, to develop a National Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Communications Strategy and Implementation Plan for Grenada. This will be a pivotal tool in raising awareness and promoting action on IWRM in the county. Furthermore, the Communications Strategy and Implementation Plan will be aligned to Grenada’s recently revised (2019) National Water Policy and IWRM Plan.
(Ouagadougou, 7 April 2020) - The World is going through a serious health crisis linked to the spread of Covid 19. The pandemic is affecting almost all African countries, including the 15 West African States.
Covid-19 could seriously affect the nations and populations of West Africa in their daily lives and economic activities given the fragility of health systems, informal economy and precarious urban systems.
GWP Central Africa (GWP-CAf) supports the monitoring and implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the sub-region. To ensure progress in IWRM, GWP-CAf has been supporting states since 2018 in the monitoring of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicator 6.5.1, and is providing further support in identifying obstacles hindering, and key activities required to accelerate IWRM implementation in the short (2021), medium (2025) and long (2030) term in Central Africa.
GWP’s ongoing country consultations to evaluate the degree of implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) is progressing as planned, with July being a busy month. In Central America alone, consultations were held in El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Panama (shown in the above photo).
The Global Water Alliance (GWA), Drexel Peace Engineering and the Water Center at Penn is organising the 2020 conference on Water and Peace on 24 September. The event will be held online.
