As part of the implementation of the Regional Partnership on Water and Environment in Central and West Africa (PREE) project, GWP West & Central Africa and IUCN Regional Offices for Central and West Africa organized a regional training workshop on the theme "Concepts, approaches and tools for mainstreaming Gender in IWRM Implementation and Monitoring and Evaluation" from 5 to 7 May 2021 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The Masungi Georeserve was announced winners of the Water ChangeMaker Awards in a ceremony at the Climate Adaptation Summit on 25 January. Their project is about restoring forgotten watersheds through youth-led movements. In a Facebook Live session on 4 March, Billie Dumaliang, representing the winning team, encouraged youth to be brave and creative, and to work together when tackling their climate challenges.
Paraguay recently concluded a successful consultation workshop on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicator 6.5.1: Degree of Implementation of Integrated Management of Water Resources (IWRM). Paraguay is one of the countries that accepted support by GWP South America to carry out consultations on SDG 6.5.1. The first round of consultations started in 2016, and in Paraguay in 2017. Paraguay's 2020 consultation is one of many taking place worldwide to collect data and measure the progress made on IWRM.
The first phase of the project TonFuturTonClimat (Your future your Climate) has ended with overall good outcomes in all the countries (Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo). A final meeting was held in Cotonou, Benin on 10 and 11 November 2020 to capitalize on the main outcomes of the pilot actions carried out and draw lessons learned.
The International Riversymposium is organised annually by the International RiverFoundation. The 2020 edition is being held virtually for the first time on 9-13 November.

The COVID-19 pandemic has arisen an issue on how we should cope with Water-Related Disaster under such situation.
To this end, the High-level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP) with the support from the Government of Japan, has developed and is promoting a Guideline for addressing water-related disaster risk reduction under the COVID-19 pandemic. The HELP Group through the Global Water Partnership (GWP) network launched an initiative to hold consultations on those Guidelines in three CACENA countries (Uzbekistan, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan).
