SDG 6.5.1 Reporting in 2017-2018

Under Stage 1, the initiative has already advanced the SDG reporting process in more than 30 countries. In fact, together with UN Environment-DHI, the custodian agency of SDG 6.5.1, GWP convened 36 workshops in 2017-2018 to collect the official country data for 6.5.1.

River Ranger

The case study was developed as part of the global Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) that was formally introduced in 2014 in the Southeast Asia Region, and finalized by the second quarter of 2018.

As one of the GWP-SEA country members, Malaysia Water Partnership has been committed to supporting the implementation of WACDEP. Several activities were carried out to support the country’s commitment to addressing the issues of floods and climate change resilience. One of the activities during the first phase of WACDEP is ‘Community flood-proofing and adaptation for climate resilience’ that was done through the demonstration project. River Ranger has been part of the WACDEP implementation in Malaysia. Read the full report here.

Cambodia Water Partnership Engaged the Partners and Lead the Development of the Green Climate Fund Proposal

Cambodia Water Partnership (CambodiaWP) collaborated with the partners to develop a sound Green Climate Fund (GCF) application. The project proposal was the continuation of the Water, Climate, and Development Programme (WACDEP) started in 2018 aiming at the implementation of IWRM under the medium and long-term flood risks management planning in the Central Floodplain (CFP) of Cambodia.

RICC project in Benin, a new film released

CWP Benin has just released a new film on its work aiming at processing invasive aquatic plants, the water jacinth. The CWP is planning to collaborate with a Nigerian entrepeneur that is developing and promoting green energy and biofuel, SMEFUNDS. The aim is the production and marketing of ethanol gel.
