The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) embarked on an innovative Pilot project to tackle water scarcity in the agricultural sector. In response to Grenada’s most recent drought experienced this year, GWP-C sought to promote strategies to tackle water scarcity and implement procedures for water conservation. As such the organisation raised awareness on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Agriculture through the use of IRROGOPTIMAL technology.

The updating of the Communication Strategy together with the Action Plan 2018-2020 of the Volta Basin Authority (VBA), has been integrated into the Implementation Plan of the Project "Reversing the Trends of Ecosystem and Water Resources Degradation in the Volta Basin (REWarD - Volta River Basin)", financed by the GEF and executed by the VBA and GWP-WA in close collaboration with UNEP and IUCN.
On 8 October 2024, nearly 300 members of the GWP Network came together virtually for the annual Network Meeting. This important event brought Partners from 91 countries to reflect on achievements and discuss the development of GWP’s 2026-2030 Strategy. After a long period of inactivity, marked in particular by the failure to hold statutory meetings of the Permanent Framework for the Consultation and Monitoring (PFCM) bodies for nearly a decade, a revitalisation of the regional IWRM process in West Africa has been underway since 2024, notably with the organisation of the 11th Ordinary Session of the Technical Experts Committee (TEC) and the 5th Ordinary Session of the Ministerial Monitoring Committee (MCC), which were held in Abuja from 21 to 24 June 2024.
