Kara, 13 August 2025 — Following in the footsteps of Mali, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso, Togo has taken a major step forward in participatory governance of the Volta Basin. Following a national workshop held in Kara, the country officially established a National Coordination of Natural Resource Users, thereby demonstrating its commitment to sustainable, inclusive and concerted management of the basin's resources.

Ouagadougou, January 8, 2025 – The headquarters of the Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) hosted an official handover ceremony between the Acting Executive Secretary, Mr. Sidi Coulibaly, and the new Executive Secretary, Mr. Amadou Lamine Ndiaye.
The recent article in Svenska Dagbladet on 19 October, reporting on GWP’s finances, presents a biased and incorrect picture of the organisation. The article fails to take into account the major shift in development aid financing generally that has also affected GWP, and it does not report on the extensive development of programme and project financing that GWP has secured in recent years.
