The days when growth was measured just in economic terms are counted. What good is economic growth anyway, if it jeopardises the planet, our life support system, and therefore societal and environmental wellbeing, and ultimately, economic sustainability?
Following the launch of Regional Strategy on Drought Risk Management and Mitigation for South Asia at the 16th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) to the UNCCD which was held on 10 December 2024, the countries of GWP SAS conducted mini-launches and key stakeholder consultations locally. The High-Level Meeting on Accelerating Investments in the Water Sector in Mali concluded successfully, marking a significant step forward in mobilizing resources and partners to strengthen the country’s climate resilience and water security.
Terrisha Walcott-Pierre, a dedicated Youth Ambassador for the Global Water Partnership Caribbean (GWP-C), and Public Health Professional, proudly completed a one-week internship in Jamaica from March 2nd to March 10th, 2024, as part of the GWP-C's Caribbean Water Academy for Youth (GWP-C WAY) programme. Pierre-Walcott was sponsored by the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean to continue her capacity building by completing her internship with the Water Resources Authority (WRA) of Jamaica.
From September 29 to October 1, 2025, the Hôtel Pélican in Lomé hosted a pivotal regional validation workshop for the "Regional Initiative for Water and Environment in the Transboundary Mono River Basin (RIWE-Mono)", funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
The SDG 6.5.1 Support Program is GWP’s flagship program aimed at assisting the national SDG 6.5.1. Focal Points in the organisation and facilitation of multi-stakeholder consultation on SDG Indicator 6.5.1, also known as Stage 1 support. The second stage is designed to facilitate the development of an Action Plan or similar in response to the identified challenges in Stage 1. Lastly, Stage 3 has an objective to support the implementation of the selected actions.
