GWPSA joined other key stakeholders working around climate change adaptation at a regional workshop on Climate Change National Adaptation Plans for African Anglophone countries. The workshop, which was held in Lilongwe, Malawi from 27 February-3 March 2017, was organised by the UNFCCC LEG and was attended by about 50 participants from 25 Anglophone African countries. The regional training was officially opened by the Chief Director for Environment and Climate Change Management, Dr. Yanira Ntupanyama, Malawi. Remarks were also given from UNFCCC (Dr. Paul Desanker, Manager of NAPs and Policies, and LDCs Expert Group (LEG) Chairman, Mr. Abias Huongo-Angola.

To conform to the texts in vigour and anxious to play the role of promotion of IWRM in the Republic of Congo, the Partners of the PNE Congo have committed themselves to relaunch the activity of their Institution and to devote a new beginning to it.

GWP/WA in collaboration with its partners IUCN, VBA, Eau Vive Internationale and IRC has started coaching young professionals through its regional programme for the employability of young people in jobs related to water security and climate resilience, which is implemented through the Integrated Drought Management Project in West Africa (IDMP-WA), #TonFuturTonClimat initiative, the Nexus & Food and Nutritional Security Programme and the Water Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP).

During the 5^th Meeting of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Water Expert Group (WEG) in November 2015, a UfM Ministerial Conference on Water has been proposed to take place the first semester of 2017 in Malta. The technical process towards that was launched  with the WEG mandating a Drafting Group to elaborate on technical contents, in case the political partners decide to convene the suggested ministerial meeting.

The Regional Coordinator visited the Ramitenga site where the Burkina WACDEP is implementing its pilot project for the demonstration of drip irrigation through solar energy to boost agricultural production. 

The TonFuturTonClimat initiative is the result of a GWP-WA and the International Secretariat of Water (ISW) response to the November 2016 call of proposal of the International Climate Cooperation Program (ICCP) funded by the Government of Quebec's Green Fund. The ICCP aims to contribute to efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change (CC) in the most vulnerable French-speaking countries.

The AIP will support Member States to access transaction management services to assure impactful in-vestments in both infrastructure and nature management solutions for assuring water security; and improve-ments in sanitation and hygiene services delivery.

There is a challenge in convincing national and international leaders of the water sectors vulnerability to climate change.

Young Water Professionals from 11 countries of Central and Eastern Europe gathered at COP24 to advocate for youth engagement in decision-making processes.

Capacity building – at the individual, institutional, and societal levels – is an important means to further IWRM principles and boost the overall quality of water governance structures. Capacity building essentially stands for a twofold process: (1) it is about understanding the obstacles that prevent the people, the organisations, or any other elements of an institutional framework from fully realizing their development goals; and (2) it is also concerned with finding the applicable mechanisms in overcoming these challenges and ultimately achieving better and more sustainable results.
