Siphon Irrigation for Farmer Communities in Lingmutey-Chu Basin in Bhutan (#496)

Water is needed for drinking and irrigation purposes and paradoxically, in Bhutan water shortages occur despite the presence of sufficient resources. In order to provide irrigation water to farmers living in upper slopes and hilltops in Lingmutey-chu who faced issues in accessing water in 2014, a siphon project was initiated by GWP Bhutan/Royal Society for Protection of Nature in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forest in Bhutan.

8th SADC Multi-stakeholder Water Dialogue - Strengthening sectoral engagement and Nexus approaches

The SADC Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogue is an event organised by the SADC Directorate of Infrastructure and Services, Water Division to provide a forum for practitioners in the region to have a dialogue with water using and water influencing sectors. The underlying objective is to ensure that the interventions in the water sector are well communicated to the non-water sector actors and also create an environment to receive inputs from them. Dr. Ken Msibi explains the objectives of the 8th SADC Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogue.

Les participants provenant de chaque pays sont priés de soumettre trois idées de projets qui pourraient potentiellement être développées et traduites en des notes conceptuelles pour des projets de résilience au changement climatique, avec l'intention de les approfondir par la suite en des propositions de projets à soumettre au Fonds Vert pour le Climat (FVC).
