GWP Central Africa (GWP-CAf) supports the monitoring and implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the sub-region. To ensure progress in IWRM, GWP-CAf has been supporting states since 2018 in the monitoring of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicator 6.5.1, and is providing further support in identifying obstacles hindering, and key activities required to accelerate IWRM implementation in the short (2021), medium (2025) and long (2030) term in Central Africa.
The regional organisation Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med) and the Energy and Water Agency (EWA) of Malta are organizing the Capacity Building Workshop ‘Communicating Water Trends & Innovation to Engage Locals and Tourists’, on 12 and 13 November 2019, hosted by the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST).
To boost ambition and accelerate actions to implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, UN Secretary-General António Guterres hosts the 2019 Climate Action Summit in New York on 23 September. GWP will be represented at the event.
GWP had a strong presence at this year’s Stockholm World Water Week (WWW), from 25-30 August. A large delegation participated in over 30 sessions, and the GWP Strategy for 2020-2025 was launched at a side event. The booth – the focal point of all GWP’s representatives, partners, and collaborators – was designed to encourage interactivity and inclusive participation.
The Global Water Partnership (GWP) in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) and with support from the IDB, will hold a Regional Workshop on “Transformational Climate Resilience Water Project Concepts in Latin America and the Caribbean for the Green Climate Fund.”
August 26-30, 2019, supported by the Global Water Partnership China (GWP China), the Pearl River Water Resources Commission (PRWRC) of the Ministry of Water Resources of China (MWR), on occasion of its 60th anniversary, invited stakeholders from member states under the East Asia Summit (EAS) to Guangzhou for sharing practices and innovations in the estuary management, coastal growth and regional collaborations.
