GWP celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) 2019 on 8 March by joining the global campaign #BalanceforBetter that reflects GWP’s commitment to gender equality. GWP has organised five regional consultations on the proposed HELP Principles on Investments and Financing for water-related disaster risk reduction. The consultations were held in Central and Eastern Europe, South Asia, Southern Africa, South East Asia and South America. “Disasters are barriers for development. In our region we are struggling to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All these issues must be part of the political agenda in every country," said Alejandra Mujica, Regional Coordinator of GWP South America, who hosted the final consultation on 23 April.
