After the information meetings with elected representatives and communal actors from the project sites in Benin and Togo as well as with the associations of young farmers eligible for the initiative in Burkina Faso, the project will be launched on the ground at the community level in Benin and Togo in August and in Burkina Faso in September.
World Water Day (WWD) is commemorated on 22 March every year. This year’s theme was “Leaving no one behind”. GWP and its Partners worldwide supported the theme by arranging a wide range of activities. The Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment, Sri Lanka - as the National Designated Authority to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) - nominated GWP as the delivery partner for National Designated Authority (NDA) Readiness for 2020 under the GCF Readiness Programme.

In an effort to scale up implementation of infrastructure, the NEPAD Agency, supported by the African Development Bank, the Regional Economic Communities and other stakeholders met in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, with the objectives of crafting measures to enhance the role out of infrastructure as well as enhance access to infrastructure financing through institutional investors as well as the private sector.
This World Water Day, 22nd March, is about tackling the water crisis by addressing the reasons why so many people are being left behind. GWP joins the worldwide celebrations of the day, and shows online support on its newly launched Instagram account.
