COP29, the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference, will take place from 11–22 November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan. With a focus on driving global climate action, COP29 will highlight adaptation, resilience, and nature-based solutions and will mark the launch of the Baku Dialogue on Water for Climate Action.
Tangible results concerning the significant reduction of water for irrigation, productivity increase, energy savings, along with the formulation of a shared vision and policy recommendations for future upscaling of the WEFE Nexus approach in Tunisia were the key highlights of the final Multistakeholder workshop of the ACCISI-GEM (Adapting to Climate Change Impacts through Smart Irrigation and WEFE Nexus Approach) project that took place on 26 February 2025 in Bizerte, Tunisia.
In its continued efforts to strengthen climate resilience in the water sector, water stakeholders in Malawi gathered for a two-day kick-off workshop for activities under the AU AIP Multi-Country Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Project, being implemented under the broader umbrella of the Continental Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP), a flagship initiative aimed at closing Africa’s water investment gap.
Seven African, Middle Eastern and Asian countries have laid the foundation to becoming international models for water leadership after implementing a 3-year Global Water Leadership in a Changing Climate (GWL) Programme that helped them identify major challenges in water resources and services management as well as develop strategies to resolve them.
