Water is needed for drinking and irrigation purposes and paradoxically, in Bhutan water shortages occur despite the presence of sufficient resources. In order to provide irrigation water to farmers living in upper slopes and hilltops in Lingmutey-chu who faced issues in accessing water in 2014, a siphon project was initiated by GWP Bhutan/Royal Society for Protection of Nature in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forest in Bhutan. 

Aranayake, a secluded agricultural area known mainly for tea and spice cultivation, came to the limelight for tragic reasons with the Samasara landslide of May 2015. Caused partly due to climate change and partly due to anthropogenic influences, the landslide was a result of 6 days of constant high intensity rains. The incident also caused the highest number of casualties ever recorded in a Sri Lankan landslide.

Since its establishment in 1999, Pakistan Water Partnership (PWP) is determined in establishing and strengthening Area Water Partnerships and using them as a platform for facilitating collective action by all concerned stakeholders for better management of water resources in rural Pakistan.

GWP South Asia attended the Transboundary Rivers of South Asia (TROSA) Annual Learning Forum 2018 held in Kathmandu, Nepal from 24 to 25 July 2018. The theme of the forum was “Partnerships for Inclusive Water Governance in South Asian River Basin Forum”.

GWP recognizes the importance of engaging youth in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable economic development as the demand for natural resources, and particularly water increases. It strives to engage with young people, youth organizations, and young water professionals, and to empower them to become agents of change

TonFuturTonClimat (YourFutureYourClimate) is an initiative that aims to integrate young people into the decision-making process for action related to adaptation and resilience to climate change in three West African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo. The initiative is being developed in the framework of the international climate cooperation programme financed by the Québec Green Fund. It is coordinated by the Global Water Partnership West Africa GWP-WA), the International Secretariat for Water (ISW) in collaboration in the Countries with the Country Water Partnerships (CWP) of Benin, Burkina Faso and the NGO Eau Vive in Togo. Les participants provenant de chaque pays sont priés de soumettre trois idées de projets qui pourraient potentiellement être développées et traduites en des notes conceptuelles pour des projets de résilience au changement climatique, avec l'intention de les approfondir par la suite en des propositions de projets à soumettre au Fonds Vert pour le Climat (FVC).
