A significant number of reservoirs and lakes in the Danube River Basin area have relevance in flood peak reduction. The countries in the river basin maintain contact and exchange of information only within bilateral cooperation. Therefore, first, there is a need for carrying out a comprehensive survey of the flood control practices and operational management of the reservoirs, and second to create a common platform for information exchange.

GWPSA and FAO Champion Gender Equality and Social Inclusion at Drought Resilience +10 Conference in Geneva

The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) played a key role in the Drought Resilience +10 Conference held from 30 September to 2 October 2024 in Geneva. Building on the outcomes of the first High-Level Meeting on National Drought Policies in 2013, the conference focused on accelerating actions to build drought resilience worldwide. It gathered countries, experts, and practitioners to review progress in drought management and outline a collective path forward.

Southeast Asia Highlights Drought Impact to Agriculture at Global Webinar

Worldwide, Online | June 23, 2025 - The Global Water Partnership (GWP) in collaboration with United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) hosted a global webinar titled “Unveiling the World Drought Atlas: Risks, Pathways, and Regional Perspectives” on June 17, 2025, brought together experts from around the world to showcase the World Drought Atlas and discuss how drought affects different regions and how countries can better prepare for future risks.
