The crucial role of water ecosystems -and especially coastal wetlands- in Middle East & North Africa (MENA) and the policy options on how to best protect and valorize them through a Nexus approach were discussed at a session co-convened by the Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) and Wetlands International during the recent World Water Week in Stockholm (27-31 August 2018).

Vientiane, 24 October 2018 -- The Mekong River Commission (MRC), Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia (GWP SEA), and US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) successfully organized a regional shared vision and collaborative modelling workshop for the Mekong River Basin. The CWP-Benin, with the support of the Water Integrity Network (WIN), supported in December 2018 and January 2019 the municipalities in promoting good integrity practices for better governance in the water sector at the municipal level.

The Integrated Drought Management in West Africa (IDMP WA) Project Officer visited Torodi, Niger from 13 to 16 April 2016. She was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Niger CWP and the person in charge of communication to visit the demonstration pilot site in Kankantouti, a village of the rural municipality of Torodi.

The Volta Basin Authority (VBA) held from 9 to 11 April 2019 the 4th session of the Forum of Parties which is a platform bringing together in addition to the VBA member States representatives of major stakeholders including farmers, women, youth associations, private sector, NGOs, etc. active in the basin.

The African Network of Basin Organizations (ANBO) is planning its 7th General Assembly (GA) from July 2-5, 2019 to be organized in Tunis (Tunisia). The General Assembly is an important occasion for exchange on ANBO's institutional life and provides a unique opportunity for members to evaluate progress made with regard to the objectives set for the network and identify possibilities for improvement.
