On 18 June, GWP organised a webinar as a follow-up to the “Project Preparation Workshop for Transformational Climate Resilient Water Project Concept for Asia” – held in October last year. The objective was to create a Communities of Practice around the topic.
The Botswana Country Water Partnership (BCWP) was launched in October 2003 as a chapter of GWP-SA. The Partnership was established with a mission to promote collaboration and sustainable utilization and management of water resources in Botswana through exchange of knowledge, experience and the practice of IWRM.

From 29 to 31 October 2019, the city of Cotonou in Benin hosted the National Forum on Integrity in the Water and Sanitation Sector. "Integrity in the water and sanitation sector: pillar for the rights to water and sanitation" is the theme of the forum that aims to promote integrity in the water and sanitation sector in Benin in bringing it it the national agenda.
"Millions of lives could be at risk if we don’t take the water crisis and global warming more seriously" was among the key closing messages of the 2019 World Water Week (25-30 August, Stockholm), organised by SIWI. Many of the Week’s 250+ sessions showcased water-related solutions to global challenges such as climate change and food scarcity. More than 4000 participants from 138 countries called upon governments, institutions and stakeholders including the private sector, to improve water management and practically implement available solutions to critical water challenges.
The project in its design and implementation respects the rules and legal provisions that apply to the W Park zone and its buffer and influence zones, while developing and strengthening collaboration with the central and decentralised services in charge of the management of the W National Park.
The High-Level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP) was established to assist the international community, governments and stakeholders in mobilizing political will and resources. HELP is committed to address water-related disaster risk reduction under the COVID-19 Pandemic.
An online consultation on the Nexus in Albania held online on 14 December brought together more than 50 stakeholders and experts to discuss how to overcome barriers and coordinate actions to apply the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus approach, achieving cross-sectoral benefits for all. The meeting, which gathered representatives from key institutions from related sectors, was convened by GWP-Med and UNECE in the frame of the SEE Nexus project, which is supported by the Austrian Development Agency.
