This International Youth Day 2024 we celebrate the first cohort of Global Water Partnership South Asia’s (GWP SAS) Water Academy for Youth (WAY) programme participants through the launch of the WAY Resource Book.
The Volta Basin Authority (VBA) in collaboration with the Global Water Partnership in West Africa (GWP-WA) organise a regional workshop to accelerate the implementation of the activities of the project ‘Reversing Water and Ecosystem Degradation in the Volta Basin’ or REWarD - Volta River Basin. This workshop takes place from 14 to 17 January 2025 in Lomé, Togo.
In accordance with the Articles of the GWP China and with the approval of the Ministry of Water Resources, the 5th Regional Partners Meeting of the Global Water Partnership (GWP China) are scheduled to be held in Beijing on the afternoon of December 28, 2025, in a combined online and offline format.
From July 8 to 13, 2025, a five-day study tour to Western Georgia was organized for a Turkmen delegation comprising government officials, biodiversity experts, and representatives from environmental NGOs.
22 March is World Water Day, an annual UN Observance focusing on the importance of freshwater, and a yearly reminder to reflect on sound water governance. World Water Day 2025 focuses on glacier preservation, emphasising the need for global action to manage meltwater sustainably and reduce emissions, securing vital water resources for the future.
Approximately 150 households within the Mt Granby and Mt Nesbit communities in St. John’s, are poised to benefit from enhanced access to water, following the commissioning of a refurbished Community Water System. This initiative marks a significant milestone for the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean and the organisation's ongoing efforts to ensure a water secure Caribbean. Water scarcity has long been a pressing issue in these two communities, because of the old leaky pipes which resulted in increased abstraction of water from the source and reduction in the flow of water into the stream it feeds. This has impacted daily life and economic activities including agriculture, health, and overall quality of life of community members.
Over 80 participants representing African Union Member States and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) have been trained in tracking and reporting water investments using the AIP-PIDA Water Investment Scorecard, a key tool under the African Union’s Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP).
