The Eighth World Water Forum is scheduled to take place from 19th to 23rd March 2018 in Brasilia, Brazil. The Regional Process is one of the key processes used to prepare for the Forum. Among other objectives are to provide opportunity to take stock of achievements and challenges in addressing global targets on water and to provide opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to the dialogue on water.
GWP held its annual Network Meeting on 25-26 June 2019. Following last year’s success, the meeting was held in a Follow the Sun format – a 29-hour long, online meeting of back-to-back sessions with all GWP regions. A big topic was the new GWP Strategy 2020-2025, which is due to be launched shortly – the meeting adopted the network's new strategic directions.
Tuesday, 5 June 2018 - Pre-monsoon conditions in Sri Lanka have caused storms (with rainfall peaking at 350 mm over 24 hours) since 19 May 2018 in the southwest parts of the country. Building on the success of the events held in 2013 and 2016, Hungary will host the third Budapest Water Summit in 2019. Under the patronage of H.E. Mr János Áder, President of Hungary, the conference will take place on 15-17 October 2019. The conference is organised by the Government of Hungary.

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) was established in 2012 as a financial mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), dedicated to addressing the climate crisis. The GCF is specifically mandated to promote country-driven, climate-resilient and low-carbon development. It is expected to become a primary channel through which international public climate finance will flow over time.
