The GCF Readiness program in the Central African Republic
Title: Advancing the CAR Country Programme by supporting the NDA and country stakeholders in programme development for climate finance
An evaluation of portfolio project proposals of the National Designated Authority (NDA) in the Central African Republic revealed that gender was not adequately considered in climate project proposals submitted to Climate funds most especially, the Green Climate Fund. This meant that the project proposals did not meet the GCF requirements for the inclusion of gender and the NDA did not have the capacity to verify gender inclusion. To address this, the GWL-led GCF Country Readiness project in the country coordinated the development of a Gender and Social Inclusion Assessment Framework.
CWP Côte d'Ivoire (PNECI) requested and obtained an audience with the UNDP Resident Representative in Côte d'Ivoire. The audience enabled PNECI to inform the UNDP representative about the IWRM operationalisation process in Côte d'Ivoire and to request his support for its implementation.
The Regional Forum on Seasonal Forecasts of the agro-hydro-climatic characteristics of the rainy season for the Sudanian and Sahelian zones of West Africa and the Sahel (PRESASS), 2024 edition was held from 22 to 26 April 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria.
Title: Strengthening the capacity of Direct Access Entities (DAEs), NDA and GCF project programming stakeholders in Sri Lanka to access climate finance through enhanced strategic frameworks for stakeholder engagement and a strengthened project pipeline
GWP-Med in partnership with the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) led activities in Palestine for the GWL Programme, a global initiative supporting emerging leadership for improved water, sanitation and hygiene services, and climate resilience. GWL was funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
A workshop titled “Project Development Stakeholder Engagement, and pilot-level User Experience Survey on Data and Information Portal developed under 1st Readiness Project” was held from 23 to 24 May 2023 at Hotel Jie Jie Beach, Panadura, Sri Lanka.

This year’s theme seeks to recognize and celebrate the women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education. It also explores the impact of the digital gender gap on widening economic and social inequalities. (UN Women)
