“Analysis of the resilience of WASH services to the effects of climate change in rural areas: the case of the localities of Douna and Soubakaniédougou in the cascade region of Burkina Faso”, this is the title of the thesis document that Ms. Phebée OUEDRAOGO defended for her Master’s degree from the International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2IE) on June 1st 2019.
The Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean is seeking to hire a Project Assistant. The successful candidate will be hired by MIO-ECSDE, a civil non-profit society based in Greece, in its capacity as Host Institute for GWP-Med.
GWP is collaborating with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) secretariat and other partners to create a vision and plausible water solutions of a desirable climate-resilient future in 2030 and beyond. The new initiative is called "Water Resilience Frontiers: Pathways for transformational Climate Resilient Water Security in 2030 and Beyond". The initiative is part of the UNFCCC Nairobi Work Programme’s Resilience Frontiers. The UNFCCC is convening a Resilience Lab for the duration of COP25. GWP-Med facilitating dialogue with youth on Nexus approach toward achieving SDG Goals and their role at the first African Young Water Professional Forum
Liza Debevec joined the global GWP secretariat in May 2020 as Senior Gender & Water Specialist. This is the first time GWP has a full-time person dedicated to gender, and Liza’s task will be to operationalize the gender dimensions of GWP's 2020-2025 Strategy, and more specifically the GWP Gender Strategy and Gender Action Piece. In this Q&A interview, Liza shares thoughts on her new role: “The biggest gender and social inclusion challenge in every sector, not just in water resources management, is that of access, or the lack of access to relevant resources that women and vulnerable communities face.”
Starting this year, Zambia will be commemorating the second week of June every year as the Zambia Water Week. GWP Southern Africa is one of the Partners behind the event, held 7-13 June in Lusaka, Zambia.
