GWPEA is implementing the “Strengthening Drought Resilience for Smallholder Farmers and Pastoralists in the IGAD Region (DRESS-EA) Project in four Riparian countries of Djibouti, Kenya, Sudan, and Uganda. The project, which is undertaken in collaboration with the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) aims at increasing the resilience of smallholder farmers and pastoralists to climate change risks mainly those related to drought, through the establishment of appropriate early warning systems and implementation of drought adaptation actions in the IGAD region.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Data Conference is held as a virtual event on 16-19 November. The Country Water Partnership of Benin has facilitated the setting up on 20 February 2020 of the Local Water Committee (LWC) of the Tchoutchoubou micro-basin in the commune of Tanguiéta, northern part of the country. The Mekrou Project Pase 2 participates in the operationalization of the National Action Plan for Integrated Water Resources Management (PANGIRE) of Niger, in the Niger portion of the Mekrou sub-basin, whose development objective in connection with its implementation is to promote socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, environmental conservation and improvement of the resilience of human and natural systems to climate change.
