This process, initiated by the Cameroon government in 2023, has been supported by several technical and financial partners, including the World Bank, the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) and GWP Central Africa (GWP-CAf). After nine sessions of the working group set up for this purpose by the Ministry of Water and Energy (MINEE), the latter organized 2 working sessions with all stakeholders in the water sector from March 25 to 27, 2024 and from May 28 to 31, 2024 in Mbankomo, Yaounde.

From 19th to 22nd September 2023, the 4th General Assembly meeting took place, hosted by the University of Milan. The Volta Flood and Drought Management (VFDM) project is drawing to a close after four (04) years of implementing activities in the six (06) countries of the basin. Among the last activities undertaken was a simulation exercise to disseminate warnings and organise the response in the event of flooding in the ten (10) pilot sites spread across the six (6) countries of the Volta basin.

The stakeholders in the implementation of the project "Real-time mapping of flood risk in Mali based on rainfall forecasts, remote sensing and deep learning" met on 06 February 2025 to validate the report on the outcome of the mission to map the risk/impact of flooding and implement hydrological models in the commune of Koula in the Koulikoro district of Mali. The meeting brought together stakeholders from Mali in the conference room of the National Directorate of Hydraulics (DNH), as well as regional and GWP-AO experts online.
