A two-day meeting convened - March 23 and 24 - by Zambia’s Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation, has recommended key water investment focus areas that will form the composition of the Zambia Water Investment Programme (ZIP), to be launched in July 2022, on the margins of the African Union Heads of State Summit in Lusaka.
The Asia-Pacific Water Summit, also known as the 4th APWS, was already held on April 23-24, 2022, in Kumamoto City, Japan. The event brought together high-level delegates from the Asia-Pacific region, including heads of state and representatives from international organizations, to discuss a variety of water-related issues. GWP actively participated in the conference, providing insights on water and its relation to youth, gender, climate, governance, finance, and the SDGs.
The Mekrou Project Pase 2 participates in the operationalization of the National Action Plan for Integrated Water Resources Management (PANGIRE) of Niger, in the Niger portion of the Mekrou sub-basin, whose development objective in connection with its implementation is to promote socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, environmental conservation and improvement of the resilience of human and natural systems to climate change.
CWP Benin has just released a new film on its work aiming at processing invasive aquatic plants, the water jacinth. The CWP is planning to collaborate with a Nigerian entrepeneur that is developing and promoting green energy and biofuel, SMEFUNDS. The aim is the production and marketing of ethanol gel.
The Burkina Faso project team carried out an exchange and experience sharing mission with that of Benin from 16 to 22 February 2020 in Cotonou and Natitingou (Benin). The TFTC project is active in Benin in reforestation, promotion of improved stoves and environmental education.
