Workshop on Theory and Practice of Water-eco Civilization Progress

The  Workshop was held in  chenzhou, Hunan Province on January 17, 2014. Mr. Zheng Rugang, Coordinator of GWP China was invited to the workshop. Before the workshop, the report on the work in 2013 completed by GWP China Hunan was made by Mr.Liu Siyuan, Vice Chair of GWP China Hunan.

Stakeholders Contribute to New Climate Information Resource for the Caribbean

The Caribbean Weather Impacts Group (CARIWIG) is a new initiative setting out to create tools that will enable access to climate change information which are specifically applicable to the Caribbean region. To support the development of the Project, key regional stakeholders including GWP Caribbean, gave input at a Regional Stakeholder Consultation workshop on 6-7 February, 2013 in Jamaica.

Nicaragua: Management plan for the Cocibolca Great Lake (#325)

The San Juan River waters have experienced deterioration due to poor management of its basin. To address the issues, action has been taken to implement IWRM to address the areas of water, soil, forests and municipal development in a cross-sectoral manner.  This case study is a good reminder of the integrated nature of IWRM, and the importance of a model that accounts for management of both water and land.

WACDEP supports NAP Regional Training Workshop for African LDCs

The WACDEP supports Regional Training Workshops for African Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to advance their National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and the Regional Training Workshops on Economics of Adaptation, Water Security and Climate Resilience, Early Warning System of the African Union (AU) and the African Ministries Council on Water (AMCOW), the Global Water Partnership (GWP) in collaboration with UNDP-GEF, CDKN and CapNet will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia:

No food security without water security

Agricultural irrigation uses 70-75% of global freshwater withdrawals and up to 95% in South and Central Asia. These withdrawals are expected to increase as the appetite for water-intensive foods grows in rising-income nations. This briefing note lays out several aspects of sustainable water management for agriculture and food security. Briefing notes are two-page summaries on selected topics. They are prepared by GWP’s Global Secretariat and its partners.

Building ‘Cities of the Future’ by Embracing Integrated Urban Water Management in Zimbabwe

Water security is under intense pressure in many urban areas, and the very nature of urbanisation contributes to water stress situations both from a quantity and quality perspective. It is within this context that on 12th June 2015 at Meikles Hotel, Zimbabwe, Global Water Partnership co-jointly with the African Development Bank through the Africa Water Facility (AWF) gathered 45 participants at an Integrated Urban Water Management (IUWM) workshop.

First Consultation Workshop in Tunis, 1 October 2013

With the aim to identify important gaps and obstacles on the governance and financing of the Tunisian water sector, the first national multi-stakeholder policy workshop took place in Tunis on 1st of October 2013. The work forms part of the Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector Project that was officially launched in May 2013 (28-29 May, Barcelona) and is jointly implemented by OECD and GWP-Med.
