On the occasion of its 15th Anniversary and the launching of the SDG Water Preparedness Facility Program in Hungary, GWP Hungary invited partners, donors, collaborators and supporters to an Anniversary meeting, which was held on the 20th of November 2017 in Budapest.
"By prioritizing water project funding, we guarantee multi-sectoral development!" said Mr Djibrilla MOHAMADOU, representing GWP CAf at the Regional Conference on Financing Water-related Adaptation Projects for the Implementation of NDCs and SDGs: Challenges, Opportunities and Prospects, held on 24-25 April 2018 in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
Isabella Pagotto of the Swiss development Cooperation met with a Gambia Country Water Partnership (GCWP) team comprising Mrs. Ndey Sireng Bakurin, chair, Mr. Momodou BE Njie, Executive Secretary, Mr. Yusupha Bojang, National IWRM Focal Point and Mrs. Fatou Sima Steering Committee and GWP-WA Technical Committee member on Tuesday 4th December 2018.
Earlier in 2017 a newly established Youth Water Community Central and Eastern Europe started a project about the reduction of plastic pollution in the river Ishmi in Albania. The project’s first activity was a workshop with local students that took place on 5 December at the Agricultural University of Tirana.
Professor Amadou Hama MAIGA is the new chair of Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA). It was proclaimed following a recruitment process approved by the Assembly of Partners on 29 September 2017 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Activities under this focus area aim to promote gender mainstreaming in the water sector as part of implementing priority intervention P3.1 in the RSAP IV on IWRM in line with the SADC Gender Policy and the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development.
In the side lines of the kick-off workshop on Food and Nutrition Security in WEFE in West Africa, GWP WA chair, Pr. Amadou Hama MAIGA accompanied by the GWPO knowledge Management Officer James KENGE, VBA Executive Director, Robert DESSOUASSI, the chair of CWP Mali, Mamadou SYLLA and regional communications and knowledge manager, Sidi COULIBALY together with the technical advisor, Mrs. DIALLO Aissata TRAORE paid a courtesy visit to the Malian Commissioner for Food Security, Mr. Oumar Ibrahima TOURE on 13 December 2017.
GWP-C in its efforts to improve water resources management in the region has developed two training manuals on Water Use Efficiency in the Agriculture Sector and the Tourism Industry.
