The session was organised by GWP-Med and supported by Sida, through the UfM-labelled project “Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector” implemented by GWP-Med and the OECD. It was organised in synergy and close coordination with the “Water Integrity for the MENA” project implemented by the UNDP Water Governance Facility at SIWI.

The Ugandan Ministry of Water and Environment in collaboration with United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Global Water Partnership, Eastern Africa are facilitating the piloting exercise for the Sustainable Development Goal number 6 monitoring methodology in Uganda.

Sustainable Water Integrated Management – Support Mechanism (SWIM-SM), the largest water-related regional project supported by the European Commission (EC) during 2010-2015, successfully concluded its phase I, and held its Final Steering Committee (SC) Meeting in Luxembourg, on the 25^th of November. With a budget of 7.7 million Euros, the project was implemented in nine south Mediterranean countries[1] by a consortium led by LDK and with GWP-Med as the project technical director.

The establishment of the LWP was followed by a series of dysfunctions in some of them, resulting in difficulties for internal animation. Following a diagnosis that revealed the causes of these difficulties linked to the misunderstanding of how the network operates, some solutions are proposed with draft specifications.

India Water Partnership (IWP) in association with one of its network partners SM Sehgal Foundation supported by CAWST (Canada) organised a four day workshop-cum-training programme from 28 February to 3 March 2017 in Samastipur District of Bihar, India on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage (HWTS). The workshop raised awareness on issues around WASH and possible solutions and built capacities of the participants on HWTS. It assisted in establishing a stronger water network in Bihar by also including activists involved in other programmes.

A course that will equip you with knowledge and skills for assessing, engaging and convening multi-stakeholder partnerships and initiatives.

“Many activities had been done and showed progress in the past five years, but there are also still remaining a lot of challenges and many IWRM activities need to be done in the coming years. However, the new phase of strategy implementation has to be improved and aligned with national natural resources strategy and other water related sector plans as well as the 8th national socio-economic development plans of the government 2016-2020” said Mr. Thoumma Saluemxay, Deputy Director General of Department of Water Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

The workshop on 26 May 2015 highlighted that The Lao National Water Resources Strategy and Action Plan 2011-2015 implementation and development is very crucial for water sector collaboration among stakeholders in the country since the last five years of review.
