Name: Global Water Partnership (GWP) Founded: 1996 Vision: A water secure world Mission: To advance governance and management of water resources for sustainable and equitable development.

As a global action network, GWP reaches out to a wide range of stakeholders in order to bring about changes to the way water resources are managed. Ideally, institutions join GWP as a Partner in order to enjoy the full range of benefits. It is possible that some institutions are not able to join. Nevertheless, GWP still wants to work in close partnership with as many institutions as possible that share our vision for a water secure world. To that end, we have Strategic Allies. We work with some of them informally, with others we have a formal Memoradum of Understanding (MoU documents are listed in the right-hand column). Below, a list of GWP's global Strategic Allies.

GWP is a global action network. Its chief focus is to support social change processes that further the sustainable management and development of water resources. To do this, the network invites like-minded organisations to join this global movement.

A number of well known international organisations and research centers join forces to highlight the role of water in the context of climate change. The newly formed alliance, named the Water and Climate Coalition, is officially launched today at a side event at the climate talks in Bonn.

GWP China hosted the GWP Steering Committee Meeting which was held from May 18 to 21, 2010 in Beijing.

GWP Technical Committee member and Special Advisor Mike Muller was appointed to South Africa’s National Planning Commission.
