Implemented by GWP-Med within the framework of the GEF UNEP/MAP MedProgramme, Phase II of the WEFE Nexus Assessment for Lebanon aims to enhance the country’s food security by assessing the options for the optimization of water allocation between competing uses.
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) embarked on an innovative Pilot project to tackle water scarcity in the agricultural sector. In response to Grenada’s most recent drought experienced this year, GWP-C sought to promote strategies to tackle water scarcity and implement procedures for water conservation. As such the organisation raised awareness on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Agriculture through the use of IRROGOPTIMAL technology.
At the recent High-Level Forum for Ministers with responsibility for Water (HLF-Water) held in Guyana, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Caribbean Development Bank provided feedback to Ministers and heads of utilities on progress towards establishing the Caribbean Water Utilities Insurance Collective (CWUIC). Fifteen African Union (AU) Member States that gathered in Nairobi, Kenya, for the kick-off workshop of the AU-AIP Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Support Initiative have hailed the multi-country initiative saying it gives them a continental-wide platform to learn from each other in efforts to accelerate water and climate resilience investments through the Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP).

A pre-feasibility study on a reservoir in the Vjosa River Basin is under way within the framework of Phase II of the WEFE Nexus Assessment in Albania under the GEF UNEP/MAP MedProgramme aiming to ultimately support the integration of the Water Energy Food Ecosystems Nexus approach into planning processes and management practices at the national level.
