Representatives of national authorities, stakeholders and regional institutions from the Mediterranean acknowledged the need for a Strategic Framework for the WEFE Nexus in the Mediterranean’s source to sea continuum at the 1st Regional Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus Roundtable in the Mediterranean organised in the framework of the GEF UNEP/MAP MedProgramme.
A two-day Gender Policy Development and Gender Mainstreaming workshop was held in Colombo on 27 and 28 July targeting the pipeline DAEs under the 2nd GCF Readiness Project in Sri Lanka.
A series of training workshops organized by the GWP-Central African Republic and the National Climate Coordination Unit were held in Bangui from September 14–22, 2023. The “Drina Nexus Roadmap”, was praised for its potential to guide transboundary cooperation towards sustainable development in the Drina basin, by high-level panelists at the Sarajevo Energy and Climate Week. The Roadmap was developed in 2022 by Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean together with the UNECE, in the frame of the SEE Nexus project funded by the Austrian Development Agency.
The Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), in collaboration with the Global Water Partnership in West Africa (GWP-WA), the Pôle Eau de Dakar, the Secretariat of the Convention for the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes and partners, is organizing a process to capitalize on innovative and successful good practices in the implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the WAEMU region.
