Just one year after the devastating floods of 2023 caused by storm Daniel, a new stormwater management project implemented by Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean, in close collaboration with the Municipality of Trikala, with funding from the The Coca-Cola Foundation was delivered to the city.
Through a high-impact engagement, GWP advanced many of its strategic objectives at the World Water Week 2024, co-convening events and collaborating with global leaders and partners, both longstanding and new, under the theme ‘Bridging Borders: Water for a Peaceful and Sustainable Future’. With record participation in Stockholm and online, GWP emphasised water’s critical role in peacebuilding and sustainability, reaffirming its commitment to actionable, cross-border water solutions.
Integrating hydro-climatic risk assessments, climate change adaptation strategies and machine learning fundamentals, as mechanisms to address the region’s water resource challenges, were areas presented during two-day workshop held at the Bay Gardens Hotel in St. Lucia.

Online, Indonesia | 3 September 2025 – The Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia (GWP-SEA) and the Indonesian Water Association (IdWA) successfully convened a webinar on “Water Security for Indonesia: From Scarcity to Solutions” as part of the Road to Water Indonesia 2025.
To increase the country's capacity to take practical steps to address and manage water scarcity under the pressure of rapid population growth and in a changing climate, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, and Ministry of Public Works and Housing held the Water Accounting Roadmap (WARM) third workshop.
On October 12, 13 and 14, 2023, the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Sanitation organized the Forum on IWRM implementation in Burkina Faso. The event, held under the patronage of Burkina Faso's Prime Minister, brought together over 400 participants from all levels of IWRM implementation in the country.
