A regional workshop on Integrated Drought Management takes place in Bratislava at Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute on 5-6 October 2012.
More than ten Government Ministers and senior officials with responsibility for water resources management in the Caribbean will meet at the 8th Annual High Level Session (HLS) Ministerial Forum on Water, to be held in The Bahamas on October 4th and 5th, 2012.
The New Senior Managers of Nile Basin Initiative Secretariat notably Engineer Teferra Beyene Asfaw, the Executive Secretary and Ms. Dorothy Kaggwa, Head of Strategic Planning and Management were briefed on the Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa (GWPEA) programmes, activities and working framework.
GWP participated in the “COP 11 of the RAMSAR Convention”, the 11th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Wetlands entitled “Wetlands: Home and Destination” on 5-10 July in the Parliament Palace in Bucharest.
GWP Caribbean together with its partner the Water Resources Agency (WRA) has established a Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) system within the Fondes Amandes community in St. Ann’s Trinidad. The RWH system is patterned after a system based on best practices. The installation of the system is part of GWP Caribbean’s contribution to the project Water for Life: The Trinidad and Tobago Initiative.
The Global Water Partnership of West Africa, whose official abbreviation is "GWP/WA" was established in 2002 by water partners of the west african sub-region. GWP/WA is the regional branch of the Global Water Partnership.
The High Level Forum (HLF) is an unmatched regional event, being the only meeting of Caribbean Water Ministers to date. The HLF affords Ministers and senior officials involved in water resources management a unique opportunity to share experiences and ideas for addressing water issues affecting the region and individual countries.
Up to 45 participants from more than 20 countries participated in the the 3rd annual ‘’International Law and Transboundary Freshwaters” workshop, organized by the University of Dundee on 11-14 June 2012. It was the second time GWP provided support to participants which are GWP Partners and 28 participants were from GWP Partner organizations.
