Climatic conditions of Poland are characterized by small amount of precipitation that is relatively favourable distributed during a year. Most of the precipitation occur during summer, which is the period with the highest demand for water. Despite this fact, in most of the country (except the seaside and the highest mountains) a significant deficit of water can be observed.

GWPO, the global GWP secretariat hosted by the Government of Sweden, provides overall support and coordination to the broader GWP network and also represents GWP in international processes and dialogues.

Coordination and facilitation bodies (CFBs) and instruments play the very important role of articulating and harmonizing the actions and visions of the numerous entities concerned with water management. Whether it is at the international, national, or even regional level, mediators are always needed in dealing with water related issues. Tools under this section can be seen as tying strings for an IWRM strategy and for good water governance to crystalize.

Building up from previous awareness raising activities organized in the framework of the youth initiative run by the Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med) in Tunisia aimed at making the youth’s voice heard in water resources management and climate change adaptation, and putting more emphasis on the potential of interactive games for awareness raising among youth audiences, a two-day training was organized on Aqua Republica Serious Game by the NGO “Recherche en Action” (REACT), in collaboration with the NGO “Tunisian Education and Resource Network” (TEARN).

2015 is a milestone with the new UN Sustainable Development Goals and the upcoming COP 21 on Climate Change in Paris in December. For the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), 2015 is the “water” year. Water is the main agricultural production factor impacted by climate change. In the Global Water Partnership (GWP), partners are joining forces at country, regional and global levels to contribute to sustainable development in the face of climate change. This initiative, in Sub Saharan Africa, will, in an inclusive manner, identify challenges and technical and institutional priority actions, and implement concrete activities at all levels. Read more

Sri Lanka Water Partnership (SLWP) organised an interactive webinar on 29 March 2017 in line with World Water Day 2017 with the aim of revamping the existing Emerging Water Professionals (EWPs) Network in Sri Lanka.

The United Nations World Water Day (WWD) is celebrated on March 22^nd each year. This year’s (2016) WWD theme is “Water and Jobs.”

The Africa Water Facility (AWF)/ African Development Bank (AfDB) and Global Water Partnership (GWP) are supporting the Development Plan and Feasibility Study for Urban Sanitation, Drainage and Solid Waste Management in Chimoio and Inhambane in Mozambique. The overall goal of the investments is to improve climate resilience and health in the two target municipalities. This will be achieved through improved services in sanitation, drainage and solid waste management, impacting in the form of reduced risk for flooding and improved health. From the 8th to the 16th March 2017, Representatives from GWP and AWF/ AfDB attended the project launch mission in Maputo, Chimoio and Inhambane.

A national workshop was held on November 2, 2016 in Abidjan to validate the consultant report on the assessment of needs in integrated flood management. A study carried out by the Consultant, Mr. JIBIKILAYI Honoré.

“Gender equity for a Water-Secure Future” was organized at the recent 7^th World Water Forum in Korea. The organizers, Women for Water Partnership (WfWP), wanted to highlight the importance of women and gender in the field of water, sanitation, and sustainable development.
