Thematic Consultation Multi-stakeholders in the Water Resources Sector

AU Member States applaud AU-AIP Green Climate Fund Readiness Support Initiative in acceleration of water and climate resilience investments

Fifteen African Union (AU) Member States that gathered in Nairobi, Kenya, for the kick-off workshop of the AU-AIP Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Support Initiative have hailed the multi-country initiative saying it gives them a continental-wide platform to learn from each other in efforts to accelerate water and climate resilience investments through the Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP).

Unveiling the Regional Strategy on Drought Risk Management and Mitigation for South Asia locally

Following the launch of Regional Strategy on Drought Risk Management and Mitigation for South Asia at the 16th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 16) to the UNCCD which was held on 10 December 2024, the countries of GWP SAS conducted mini-launches and key stakeholder consultations locally. The key stakeholder consultations around the strategy facilitated identifying the national level priorities that should be developed into action plans by keeping the regional strategy as the guide.

Advancing system thinking to reduce major environmental stresses in Mediterranean coastal zones

The GEF UNEP/MAP MedProgramme's efforts to reduce major transboundary environmental stresses in Mediterranean coastal areas, strengthen climate resilience and water security and how to continue its efforts in the future were the key topics of discussion during the MedProgramme side-event organised by UNEP/MAP and GWP-Med during the 5th Mediterranean Water Forum in Tunisia.

Regional collaboration to advance IWRM for water security and resilience in the WAEMU space: actors, processes, results and perspectives

The session coordinated by GWP-WA was held on Thursday 23 May 2024 at the Senegal Pavilion during the World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia. Facilitated by the GWP-WA Chair, Mr Abdoulaye SENE, it featured the distinguished visits of the Senegalese Minister for Water and Sanitation, Dr Cheick Tidiane DIEYE, and the Executive Secretary/CEO of GWPO, Mr Alan ATKISSOON.
